Derived from Chinese acupuncture, dry needling is a clinically-proven technique that blends eastern thinking, western medicine and physiology. It aims to alter the length and makeup of a tissue, to decrease tightness and reduce tension.

This convenient treatment is an effective form of pain relief and pain management and inflammation.

How it works

At the start of your 360º treatment, your physiotherapist will carry out a full assessment that allows you to highlight areas of pain or concern, and identify the cause of your imbalance. If dry needling is right for you, we’ll build this into your bespoke treatment programme to help you recover, and return to your best, quicker.

Our specialist dry needling treatment involves a series of single-use, pre-sterilised disposable needles of varying widths, lengths and materials. These are placed at scientifically-determined trigger points, to pierce the skin.

During your treatment, we typically leave the needles in position for between 10 and 15 minutes. These stimulate the sensory nerves under the skin, which in turn releases natural occurring substances, including pain-relieving chemicals like endorphins. The needles also alter the length tension relationships in the tissue to reduce tightness.
